The good news is that I finally figured it out. Actually, there wasn't much figuring out to do. The simplest way to make sure that the Home button triggers the chosen Car Launcher is to watch the installation of the car launcher carefully - which I DID NOT DO!!! At the end of the install a screen appears asking which launcher is to be default as the Home. I missed that and that's why I got confused and reached out - unnecessarily as it happens.

My new Pumpkin Android 8.1 is superb. The radio is excellent, which was my biggest complain in my old system. I live in a military area where a weak radio chip gets disrupted by military broadcasts. My new unit works flawlessly and military broadcasts have no effect on reception. I do not have the DAB unit so, I'm talking FM.

Well done Pumpkin. :D

As with the older unit there is a Home button (physical button) on the left side of the unit. Pressing this launches the Oreo home screen (which is the Launcher).

I downloaded and installed a third-party launcher and would prefer that the physical Home button launched my third-party launcher. Right now, it does not do that. In fact, since I installed the third-party launcher and, using the configuration menu that pops up when the unit detects a new launcher, setting my new launcher as Default, it does absolutetly nothing. When pressed it doesn't do anything. This is a problem as I would like to have the same control I had with my older unit which launched the third-party launcher when the Home button was pressed. This new unit appears to lack that functionality.

So, after all that, my question is: how can I establish a link between my new, and preferred, Launcher and the physical Home button?
