This launcher app can only support to add the third party apps on the unit, not the small widgets like the smartphone, hope your understanding.

Widgets don't work at all. I have tried your launcher and other launchers as well (i.e. Nova) and the widgets don't stay at all.

The widgets on the main user interface are the factory default design, this unit does not support to enable other third party widgets on the main user interface.
You can install another Apex launcher to add the widgets you like, here is a link for your reference.
