Add accelerometer, gyroscope and compass

I have the AE0273B Android 8 universal head unit. I noticed this does not appear to have a compass or accelerometer. I would like to add support for these. I have seen some USB devices for this like this one: . Has anyone done this? If so, what has worked with apps?
