Android Update from 4.4.4 to 5.1

Hello there,

hopefully someone can help me. I got this product: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01B17 ... UTF8&psc=1

It says that Android 5.1 is installed but on my version there is only Android 4.4.4. I need a newer Android-Version to install some Apps.
I attached the system information from my device to this post.

Can anyone provide me a manual how to update my device and of course the updatefile itself.

Thank you very much :)
Best regards,
ShellingFord

Hi,
Could you please tell us which apps you could not install into the android 4.4?
We can test that app on our android 5.1 unit.
Actually, most third party apps we tested are both available on our android 4.4 and android 5.1 units.
You can check from other threads, the factory don't allow to update the android 4.4 to android 5.1, cause some updating may lead to the black screen or other problems, though the android 4.4 units have the possibility to upgrade.
Regards

Hi,

For instance I tried to install Android Car from Google Play Store.
Nevertheless, if I want to update my Android Version just to be more "up to date", I would like to update it. If it fails I will send it back and get a new one where Android 5.1 is preinstalled. Please provide a download link for the firmware and a manual how to update.
Either way, if I can not update to 5.1 and it is not supported I will not do so and talk to Amazon giving me a new one where Android 5.1 is pre-installed.

Best regards,
ShellingFord

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply due to the weekend.
I can understand you, but as we know, the android head unit can hardly perform as perfect as the android smartphone, and even if you update the system to android 5.1 and it maybe some apps still can not be installed.
Here is the link of the android 5.1 firmware for your unit C0346.
https://yadi.sk/d/SydudhsbxpAoL
Please download the firmware rar file, unzip it, copy the update file into SD card, insert the SD card into GPS slot, then go to the Settings--about device to click system updates, the unit will read the update file and pop out a dialog, please just choose to wipe all the data, then the unit will automatically finish the update process. And please notice, don't cut off the power during the update process, otherwise it may damage the unit.
Regards

Hi,

thanks for the update file. I got an error during the update, you can see the error within the attached screenshot. After a short time the device restarted itself an hangs now on boot.

Best regards

Uodate via recovery menu worked now. I can boot into the system. Unfortunately, it is pretty useless. There are no Google Apps, no radio app to listen to the radioand on top the settings-menu is crashing when I select certain options like GPS…

P.S.
It is not possible to send data via bluetooth to the device, so I also can not install apps because there is no file manager pre-installed.

Hi,
You can press the Home button to choose the different UI, and the android 4.4 UI is still available, so you can find the Google apps and radio app.
But our unit does not support to send date via Bluetooth.
You can find the "apkInstall" icon and install the apps you want to use.

Hi,

when I press the home-button, only 2 launchers are available to choose. Both of them showed only 2 apps. Looking at the Apps-category within the settings, there were no more apps installed.

I nearly installed the update 5 times again with reboot/clean/default settings etc. and now it seems to work. The normal GUI is available and all apps are installed.
