Update available for PX30?

Postby Roadrunner 257 » Wed Jun 10, 2020 3:48 pm

Hello Jammy,

I Have some problems with my Pumpkin PX30 running in an VW T5 MY2010,
it is running very slow (e.g. slow feedback of volume-adjustment after startup), navigation and others apps suddenly close, GPS-Signal is lost,
automatic shutdown (sleep) doesn't work proper (and got my battery empty),..

Is there any (firmware-) update available?

I've tried to collect all data I could find, I hope that's all you need,

Thanks in advance!

Tobias

Hello,

After unplugging the ignition key of the car, whether the car stereo will automatically shut down?
Open the "GPS Information" APP in the main menu and offer this picture to us, check whether the GPS antenna is tightened, or try to replace the GPS antenna, and please take a video for us.

Thank you
Jammy

Hi Jammy,
After unplugging the ignition key, the car stereo shuts down automatically, but not completely. When I have it in auto sleep mode( see photo), and i start the car stereo after two days, it doesn`t have to boot completely but is on in two seconds. Perhaps, some other control unit of the car that is also connected to the canbus prevents the complete shutdown of the car stereo?

I also added a photo of GPS information, but in that moment, everything seemed alright. It's just sometimes that GPS isn't available. I already checked the wiring and I changed the position of the GPS sensor away from WLAN and DAB+-antenna. After that, it was a little bit better. Could that have been the problem?

What's about the very slow response of the car stereo?
Do I need an update to fix that or what could be the problem ?

Thanks a lot!
Regards
Tobias

Tobias,
if you set the unit to "Auto" in Ausschaltverzögerung.... the unit just goes into a deep sleep mode. This is the state which is almost expected from nearly all user. This prevents from waiting ~30 seconds to get the unit booted.
The power consumption in deep sleep mode is something about 10-13 mAh so this does not drain your healthy batterie, even if you park the car at the airport for 2 weeks.

If you want to have it always rebooting, set it to 30 seconds. That means, the unit will shut down completely after 30 seconds and after refueling which takes 10 minutes the unit has to reboot completey. This is not really comfortable.

About your GPS issue:
It is normal that it sometimes takes some minutes for the first fix.
This is related to the fact that the satellites which have been used before shutting down your unit are no longer visible. To get all needed data (4 satellites are needed to get a 3-D fix) the GPS receiver in your car needs to receive the data of all visible satellites. This can take some time due to the small bandwith of these data.
I don´t want to get in technical details... If you are interesetd in the technical stuff, Google gives a lot of results.

About the slow responding:
Hmmm... Just ordered the wrong unit. The PX30 are not known for high performance. This depends on the used CPU in there.
There is nothing you can do...

Hi Jammy,
Thanks a lot for your answers.
When you say px30 is very slow...
What would be a better unit with the same or similar vw design?
Thank you!
Tobias

Das war nicht Jammy.... ;)
Ich würde mal nach dem hier schauen: https://www.autopumpkin.de/collections/ ... golf-caddy
Alternativ:
Alles was 8 Core ist und 4/32GB oder 4/64GB an Speicher hat.
