Hi,
the unit doesn't support update to android 7.1 or even high level.
Normally we don't suggest our clients flash the unit if it works as it should.
Is there any trouble you suffer with the unit?

The boot up process seems to take longer than it should. Average boot up is 45-50 seconds every time I start the car. Also the pre-installed apps run very slow.

Please download the files to the root content of one sd card and insert it into the GPS slot.Then enter settings - car settings - system update.
