So I updated with the file provided and it boots up to a black screen nothing more I can still get in to boot menu

Sorry to hear about it.
Could you please try to install the firmware again? Cause sometime it may fail during the update.img file download or the firmware installing.
If the unit just still get in to the boot menu, it's possible the android board broken.

I tried last night to install in many times via sd and USB I don't believe that the unit is broken because it will still play music the volume buttons still display on the screen and mute and power still display. It finishes the install and booting logo still appears and finishes just boots up in to a black screen however I can still use volume functions and mute and power and they still display and will play music ect

could it be possible you sent me a link for a firmware for a different unit ? Because on amazon I found my unit as 11 rq0248e

According to your words, it should be the system software problem.
We just got a new android 5.1 firmware for your unit RQ0268, here is the link for you. Hope some help.

The unit you bought is not the RQ0248 as the amazon store shown,cause different platform have different rules.

Same issue with new file I resorted to custom firmware which actually works sorry
