Steering wheel controls using PAC RP4-FD11 in 2011 F150

Postby goshawkr » Wed Oct 10, 2018 5:14 am

I am installing my pumpkin stereo in a 2011 F150 using a PAC RP4-FD11 adapter kit.(https://pac-audio.com/catalog/radio-rep ... &results=1)

I have all the connections figured out, except for the steering wheel controls. Can you provide guidance on what to connect? Do I need to tie the key1&2 wires to the 3.5mm jack? Is the extra black wire part of the steering wheel control wiring and need to be grounded out??

This is the connectors on my truck:

Also, I am frequently towing and would like to use the back up camera to check on the trailer while driving forward. I rigged the camera so that it has power whenever the radio has power. Is there a way I can access the reverse camera app without the car being in reverse?

Hi,
you don't need to tie the KEY1 and KEY2, you can connect one of them or separately connect them to the regarding metal part from the 3.5mm jack .The black wire you 'd better connect to the Ground.

2.you can connect the cam signal wire( yellow RCA connector) to Video-in connector instead of CAM -IN connector back of the car stereo. And connect the power cable of the rear cam to the acc position instead of rear car light .And don't connect the wire which labelled "reverse" from the ISO cable. At last ,when you want to see the rear imgae, just click the AV-in app/icon on the menu .

Using the AV-in app does not meet my needs 1) wiring this way the camera will not automatically come on during reverse. 2) the radio/music stops playing when the AVI app is selected.

Somewhere in the android OS is the app that activates the camera when in reverse. What do I need to do to create an icon to enter that app whenever I want to?

Hi,
when the reverse wire get power(normally you put the car in reverse and the reverse light powered ), the unit will auto run the reverse program (change to reverse image ).However, there is no such an app or icon you can enter whenever you want to see the reverse image.
Maybe you can consider add an dash cam .
regards
