Think we are misunderstanding each other slightly. The sound break up has been there right from the start . I will do the firmware flash later in the week and let you know how I get on . Now I have had chance to use the HU more I am finding most apps to be slow and unresponsive. I just hope that the firmware fixes all my issues ..

I think I have solved my problem and think it was a faulty SD card . Found this out after spotify cleared all my offline music after updating itself . Anyway could you tell me the best way to set my storage up ? Is it best to load songs to the HU memory first then transfer to the SD card? What is NAND flash ? Should I use this or an external USB stick ?

Hi,
I did not use the Spotify, for the music app from our country, you can set the offline music download path to external SD card or USB stick on our unit.
The nand flash is just used for storaging the files, like songs, short videos, and it does little effect on the system operation speed like the installed running apps.

This is getting more and more puzzling .
I did a clean install of Spotify (again) and used a spare 8gb sd card to load up some of my offline music and this worked perfectly . I purchased a new 32gb sd card formatted it and after another clean install loaded all my playlists to it and the problem is back . It's not as severe as before but still back .
The only difference is when I used the 8gb card I loaded the songs to the HU memory first then transferred them to the SD card . Could this be a reason or cure for the problem ??
It's making me crazy that's for sure ....

Hi,
You need to check the storage memory of the unit, total memory is 16GB, 1GB RAM internal memory and the other memory is Nand flash.
The default app and the android system occupy some of internal memory, the cache and the download data can be stored into the Nand flash memory.
So you can use the 8GB sd card to load the songs from HU memory, but the HU memory does not support to store more large playlist and transfer to the SD card. Hope your understanding.

The point is that my unit does not seem to be compatible with 32gb micro SD cards as it works with the 8 gb card and not the 32gb . When I get some time I will transfer the files to the external USB and see if that works ...
I am really not happy that after nearly 2 months I still don't have a HU that is fit for purpose and does what it supposed to do ..
I will be in contact with Amazon very soon if this can't be resolved ... not happy at all

The file you gave me to flash the HU does not work . I downloaded on my pic made a copy to SD card -About - software update and got the 'No Update file found message .
Could you please check and send again and any instruction on how to install I might have missed

Hi,
For the update process, you need to check the download update file, named "update.img", use a micro SD card or USB stick within 32GB, put the update file into the root inventory of the micro SD card or USB stick.
You can enter the Settings--about device to click system update to start when the unit boot normally.
Or you can choose to press the power button and RST hole, enter the recovery mode to start the update.
Just long press the power button and RST hole at the same time, keep about 10 seconds, release the RST hole, then loose the power button.
The unit will enter the recovery mode, choose the third option "update system/mcu from sdcard and clear all"

As I tried to explain in post the 'update' file is not recognised by the HU using either of these two methods . I have checked and the file exists on the SD card . Please could you check and send the file link again please

Today I finally managed to download a copy of the 'Update' file from my PC to a SD card that actually worked . To my surprise the update was actually the KitKat 4.4.4 operating system and not the Lolipop 5.1 my HU came with . At first I was not happy about this , that was until I started to use it . So much more responsive . Can do more than one thing at once without going unstable all the time and best of all perfect Spotify playback and the UI is prettier too ..

Is this version more stable than 5.1 Lolipop ? What am I missing out on with Lolipop Vs KitKat ?
I will let you know how I get on with Kitkat anyway !!
