Canbus Issue

Postby Docdean2312 » Wed Jan 04, 2017 6:58 am

Hello, I have recently purchased and installed a Pumpkin unit for my Ford Mondeo Mk4. I am having an issue with the loom that includes the canbus box. Upon starting the unit will only display a warning triangle on the screen but as i turn the unit off again if goes to the home screen and then powers down. On inspection of the wiring to the canbus box i have noticed that the wires are in different positions to the loom for my old head unit. would you have any information about what each wire position does and the colour of the wire so i can attempt to diagnose this. I currently have the non canbus loom in place but this does not allow me to use the features i bought the unit for in the first place. Thank you in advance....

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply due to the different timezone and working time.
Regarding your issue, there are two kind of the power cable is special for Ford Mondeo, your car may have the original cable which the power cable without canbus from our unit can fit. Please just use the power cable without canbus.
You may just need to enter the key study to learn the steering wheel control buttons.
If you have any other problems after using the power cable, please tell us more details.
We will help you check and try to provide you best solution.
Regards

Thank you for your reply, The stereo i removed from the car had a canbus in place and worked correctly, i was hoping that it was just a simple swap but this is not the case. I would still like to use the canbus if possible because this handles the reverse signal etc for the camera. I have currently got the non canbus loom in place so the stereo functions but i have to turn it on and off manually because the ignition is not controlling this and also the illumination is not functioning correctly (a separate problem if the canbus cannot be used). I will also have to connect the reverse camera signal wire if my canbus issue can not be resolved but this will involve dismantling of my car again to access the wires. Do you have a wiring diagram for the canbus plug?? the diagram on top of the stereo only relates to the ports in the back of the unit and does not cover all wires coming from the canbus unit.

I am using this cable now but would like to resolve the canbus issue because the previous unit made use of this feature. Do you have a wiring diagram for the canbus plug?? The diagram on the stereo is for stereo plug only and no detail for the canbus can be seen. I would like use of the canbus for reverse signal as this would prevent me needing to strip down my car again to connect signal wires for camera. Many thanks

Hi,
There is not a wiring diagram for the canbus plug from the factory.
But after discussing your issue with our technician, he said you could use the power cable with Canbus, just need to cut the reverse detective wire.
If you install a reverse camera, please follow the below reference picture to connect the reverse detective wire to the reverse lamp positive pole which is related to the thin red wire together with the yellow RCA cable.

The illumination wire is still controlled by Canbus.

My problem is the canbus does not function as it should to begin with and prevents the unit from powering up correctly. To me there looks like the wiring between the old and new unit for the canbus is slightly different.

Hi,
The problem about the canbus is related to the reverse detective wire as the previous attached picture shown.
Please cut the reverse detective wire from the power cable with canbus, then plug the power cable with the canbus to your car.
If you still have problem, please contact us freely.

The canbus loom still does not function correctly and will not allow the unit to boot properly. As a temporary measure I am using the non canbus loom but would like this resolved to allow me to use all the features of my car.

The picture show Left one my old canbus and Right one is yours. The wires are different in the plug and I thought they should be the same but the colours are different so I can't trace which wire is for what function.
