13-RQ0278E-UK Microphone not working

I've just got a 2gb double din android unit from Amazon, model number 13-RQ0278E-UK, it's all installed and a quick run looks like most of the basics seems to be working. However the microphone either internal or external appear to not work. Anybody got any suggestions?

Hi,
The unit RQ0278 had been tested without any problem before sending out.
When you make or receive a call, please use both the smartphone spkeaker side and our unit mic side.
Sometime the sound seems weak when you don't put the external mic directly in the front of you, and the surrounding noise also bring the interference during a phone call.
