Well, I would agree with you if Pumpkin said to just use rhHuePlayer, because I don't use that player (I don't watch videos in my car) and yet other things (GPS, music player, etc.) are too dim for me to see well on a cloudless day. But, they haven't.
The only time I've seen any "stutter" when doing things (generally audio playback) was when I was doing heavy disk I/O (downloading GPS maps in the background over WiFi). What is the storage for your videos? I think the internal NAND is actually pretty slow, perhaps a high-speed (Class 10 / Ultra 1) Micro SD card would be worth trying because it might be faster? Having worked a lot on embedded systems, eMMC/SD is often a TON faster than raw NAND flash, even assuming high speed grade parts all around - what is on your phone is likely eMMC. Assuming it actually is NAND flash and is not just named NAND flash, that likely is why. We also don't know how it is formatted, specifically. For example, if they used JFFS2, it compresses better but is way slower than, say UBIFS. Similarly, if they used a block device emulation so that they can use ext3 on top of UBI on top of NAND... well, that's just a lot of layers of the onion, and I imagine it to be slow (I haven't tested this on any of my designs, so I can't say).
That's probably more information than you cared to know, but try video from a high speed grade Micro SD card. Also, try a DVD. If it can play a DVD smoothly, then it's a storage data transfer rate problem, not a CPU/RAM problem (that CPU should be quite adequate for the task).

Re: Display brightness is very dark
Hallo Mattcaron, thank you very much for your information.
But I don't think that it is the speed of the storage.
All other players (and i tried 3 different ones) play all my video files fluently. No stutter
Also the original player from the head unit plays the file perfect.
So i think it has something to do with the codes the reHue Player uses.
Or how the decoder is working in this app.

Re: Display brightness is very dark
Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant that *all* players stuttered.
In that case, I'd say that, if the brightness fix Jammy sent you works, then all players should play with adequate brightness, yes? In which case, all is well.
Also, from an industry perspective, a 2 week turnaround from initial problem report to new firmware is excellent. I'm pretty happy with their responsiveness.

I am tight. We will see
I will test it in the next days.

Re: Display brightness is very dark
I have tested new firmware on my 11-RQ0367-US-A-KN-Y0012 this weekend. It does seem to go brighter (though this is very nonscientific - it just "looks brighter), and it makes the brightness minimally acceptable to me. However, I would still like to make it even brighter.
Re: Display brightness is very dark
Hi,
If you still want to make it even brighter, the unit will become dazzling at night and that's not good for the driver to use.

Re: Display brightness is very dark
Hello Jammy, i did not have time to test the new firmware.
Hope i will find time to test it on the weekend.
But please do not tell the people it will become dazzeling at night.
Belive me there will never come up someone complaining about to much brightness.
You can turn down the brighness very easy in the system to 50% lower
And if it's not low enought there are 1000 Apps in the playstore to turn the brightness down to 1% if you want.
But i can't understand why the manufacturer configures the brightness not to maximum what the display can deliver.
Because nobody can turn up the brightnes higher then 255 (that's the maximum value what the users can adjust in the software)

Re: Display brightness is very dark
I have to agree with djprojekt on this. If you have problems with increased brightness during the day causing the user to be dazzled at night, then I suggest one of the following:
1. Independent brightness controls for day vs. night.
2. The "night brightness" is proportional to the day brightness. For example, instead of reducing the brightness by, say, 5 when the lights are on, reduce it by half. So, if my brightness is 10, night brightness is 5. If it's 15, night brightness is 7. It's 20, night brightness is 10. These numbers are made up, of course, as I'm not certain by how much you decrement it.
Item 1 gives the user more control, but item 2 is probably easier to implement.

Re: Display brightness is very dark
Hi All,
i just received the same product car HU pumpkin 264..
the head unit works fine but I am not happy at all with the brightness.
i set it to max but the screen is still dark. it is really frustrating. I see that i m not alone in this situation, so can you please tell me if you found a solution for that?
thanks in advance
