My question is, can you reassign the function of some buttons on the main panel? For example, can I have the "SEL" button open the radio or any other APP on my device? how can I do it?

For the function of the buttons on the main panel, they are factory default design and cannot be reassigned or reprogrammed at buyer side, hope your understanding.
You can set the GPS/Navi button to the apps you often need to use, just go to the Settings--GPS--GPS application option.
