WiFi signal poor

Has anyone found a solution to the poor wifi reception? I park my car about 5 metres from the house and it picks up the signal, any further and the wifi becomes unusable. Even when I'm less than 5 metres, the wifi speed is still poor and frequently times out. I've read that the WiFi unit is internal and that is possibly why the signal is poor. My questions are as follows :

Would any firmware update fix this or is it a physical issue?
Can I plug in a third party usb Wifi device and use it to override the inbuilt wifi?
Is there any other signal booster I can use to increase the reception?

Hi, could you please tell us your order number?
Regarding the wifi signal issue, as you mentioned, the wifi reception has relation with the distance between the unit and the router. It does not matter with the firmware and the usb wifi device when the unit could receive wifi signal.
You may try a way sharing from one of our clients as the below. Hope some help.
"I just used an typical wifi antenna from an old router and brazed it on same point as the old antenna was
i did not remove the old antenna just added a second one on the old antenna output, works really good"

Hi, my order number from Amazon is 112-9803988-4648227.

I understand the distance limitation of WiFi however my phone for example, can operate over 3 to 4 times further than this device.

As far as the suggestion goes from another customer, I'm not sure I follow. They connected another WiFi antenna to the pumpkin head unit?

Hi, sorry that our unit does not perform as well as your phone.
Both of them have android system and support to connect wifi, but they have some different on the configuration of hardware, hope your understanding.
If you don't know how to follow the other clients sharing, we suggest you can use your phone connect the wifi from your house, then share the hot spot from your phone, our unit can connect the hot spot from your phone, hope some help.
