ND0376B Screen issue

Postby mattcaron » Fri Jan 11, 2019 1:44 pm

Hello!

My wife bought me a ND0376B for Christmas for my 2013 VW Beetle. For the first couple of weeks, it worked great. But, recently, the screen has started to do strange things.

1.) It occasionally gets these grey bars through the screen while operating. They move around, much like a bad signal on an analog TV, except grey, not static. (I do not have a picture of this).

2.) The colors, which used to be very sharp and vibrant, are now washed out. It's almost like the color planes are being muted in some way. It's hard to see, but I've attached a picture of the home screen and the A2DP screen. The home screen icons are all very dull, and the A2DP screen used to have a brighter background (blue, if I remember correctly). See the following pictures:

3.) Most noticeably, the screen now displays an afterimage of the previous screen. In the attached image, you can see that the reversing camera is active, but you can still see the after image of the home screen, which was the previous screen. In addition, the image is very de-saturated - the camera is color and the guide lines used to be very sharp and vibrant (red, yellow, green) and they are a much duller color now (probably the same cause as item 1).

I have hard reset the radio, but that did not correct the problem.

Please advise as to any suggestions.

Thank you in advance.

Is the weather very cold where you are? Low temperature can do this to these screens?

Hi mattcaron ,
you can first try to click the reset button the reboot the unit when you suffer this issue. If this doesn't help , you might need to contact the pumpkin customer service to change the mother board.

pauleden - yes, this behavior is coincident with reduced temperatures (when installed, it was around 4C, now it's round -15C in the mornings). But, it still does this even once I have been driving the car for an hour and therefore it's had plenty of time to warm up, and everyone in the passenger cabin is comfortable.

Jammy - No change after reset. How do I email customer service? An email contact for service is not listed on the contact page here: https://www.autopumpkin.com/contacts/

That page says onlinestore@autopumpkin.com is "sales inquire". Sales is not support.

As that is the email you say to use, I will.

But, after a week of behaving as described above, it seems to have suddenly stopped, without my having done anything. Temperature remains the same, in the -10C to 0C range. This suggests some type of bad electrical connection, either internally or externally. Are their any external factors which could cause this? I have the following connected:

- Normal VW wiring harness / CAN-BUS
- GPS
- WiFi
- Backup camera (wired to ground, CAM+ and RCA video in)

Could something related to any of those cause this problem? I'm thinking incorrect wiring, intermittent short, etc. I'm really just trying to avoid pulling the radio and sending it back, so if it's something I can fix myself, it would be preferred.

Sorry, I think you miss my point.

If the issue is external wiring causing this issue, then even if I send you the radio, and you fix it and send it back, or send me a new one, then the new one would have the same problem because the issue may not be caused by the radio, but rather external wiring. Which is why I'm asking if there is anything external to the radio which I should investigate as a possible cause.

Thank you.

Hi, the external wire connection should not be the cause of this issue.
