No external microphone possible with new Android 6.0 for Volkswagen (27-AQVW71)?

Hi,

I received the new Android 6.0 radio for VW (27-AQVW71-DE-A) and now I'm asking myself if it is really not possible to connect an external microphone.

For older devices (e.g. Android 5.1 radio 11-RQ0367E) users wrote that the internal mic is useless and you have to use the external mic.

I haven't mounted the 27-AQVW71 yet, so I can't say anything about the quality of the internal mic.

Is it really not possible anymore to connect an external mic?

Hi,
This unit AQVW71 has the internal mic, sorry that it's not possible to connect the external mic.
We will feedback your suggestion, and ask if the factory could provide a external mic in the future.

Thanks for your reply. What would you suggest:

1. Assemble the radio into the car and test if the internal microphone is sufficient. If not (as with some other devices), can I do a factory reset and send it back?

2. If internal microphone is not sufficient, remove internal microphone, connect cables instead and use them for placing an external microphone (see viewtopic.php?f=3&t=171&hilit=external+microphone&start=90#p3412)

3. Send it back immediately and wait for an Volkswagen radio from Pumpkin with Android 6.0 and external mic

In the meantime I installed the radio in the car and tested the internal mic.

To my surprise the quality is quite good. It is almost as good as with the original VW hands-free Bluetooth which had an external mic.

From my perspective this thread can be closed.

I'm happy to further investigate my new radio.
