7 Inch Quad Core Android 4.4 11-RQ1705-US-A Issues and overall displeasure

Hi All,

I'll start out with the good stuff. I really like the idea behind this unit. I am an experienced android user and avid music listener. I primarily listen to steaming music in every setting of my life. I like the flexibility this gives me, the ability to have a full android device in my vehicle, and all the feature that it brings.

I have had this unit since January 2016 and I can say at this point am very disappointed. I have very few apps installed, Pandora, Google Music, Google Maps, and Weather. The unit is regularly running out of space(1GB). Consequently, it is usually very slow and buggy during these times. It cant be updated to a version of Android that supports newer function of these apps such as leveraging SD storage. For the same reason, I cant leverage any of the features related to downloading music because these version don't allow SD storage with the version of Android. The volume knob occasionally stops working and is very inaccurate. The built in apps are unusable. The WIFI initial connectivity is 50/50 at best. The default launcher time and weather do not work. I cant even tell if the EQ is functional, with that said I have a high quality JBL after market amp and speakers. With that, I don't even see frequencies coming out of the unit below 50Hz. I can get them connected directly to the amp with my android phone on same apps.

I have many Android devices. I would be happy if this was as usable as any of them. I usually have to resort to a BT connection to my phone and use that instead.

Please let me know if any of these issues can be addresses as I really like this and don't want to replace it. Thanks!!

sorry for the problem.
For the limited internal memory，you can flash the following firmware.And in the new firmware,you will get 2G memory for intenal memory.You can enter into settings and click app info icon,try to move some app to sd card.

For the volume knob problem, it should be the element burn-in problem since you bought the unit in January 2016.

Also, can you please take a look at these questions?

1. Any change in offering, or allowing an Android OS upgrade?
2. Any suggestions on Audio tuning? The EQ seems to adjust very little. I am connected via RCA outputs.
3. How do I address the WIFI connectivity issues? The units seems to auto connect less than half the time. If I go to the WIFI menu, it then on its own connects.
4. Will there be any software enhancements on this unit going forward, or is in maintenance mode only?

Do you mean the firmware i give you is same as your original one?
Any problem be solved after flash the unit?

For the volume knob problem,i mean this is a hardware problem.You need to repair it.
For the EQ problem,if you want to get bass below 50Hz,you need to switch to the rock mode.
For the wifi connect problem, when the wifi signal is weak,the unit can't connect to wifi automatically.
The unit don't support update from android 4.4 to android 5.1.Hope you know.

Your response is complete nonsense. It's clear that you either don't know what you are talking about, or think I am an idiot. Please see my notes in bold.

For the EQ problem,if you want to get bass below 50Hz,you need to switch to the rock mode. - This just sounds wrong? What does a EQ preset have to do with this? If I manually set the EQ the same, you are saying that it will not produce any sound below this frequency?
For the wifi connect problem, when the wifi signal is weak,the unit can't connect to wifi automatically. - If the wifi source is directly next to the unit what you are saying does not apply. I have tried this with more than one source. The code is buggy.
The unit don't support update from android 4.4 to android 5.1.Hope you know. - I know, and have buyers remorse that I purchased a sub-par product with poor software. This has been a complete disappointment. You are clearly not interested in actually assisting or answering the questions I have posted. I look forward to trowing this in the trash. I have the almost identical unit and yes your right. It supports very little. No Android Auto, No TomTom Go. If you go into the Google play store, many apps being talked about at this time, are simply not showing up in the store- because they are simply not compatible with this machine.

My phone has a Mediatek processor and is now upgraded to Nougat. This radio has an Arm Cortex processor, and is not getting Nougat. There are many other differences. This car audio works 'as is'. No-one said it would or could be upgradeable in the future

Mine works no better than it did when I bought it. However it will handle Flac audio files and they really make my Sony 10 speaker sound system come alive. Its a cheap machine.
I use Sygic for all my navigation needs. You can put the maps on SD card. I also use a usb stick with my music on it, 64gb! ( I ran the USB port to the glove box!)

I also have the DAB radio with a quality external roof mount aerial. The software is a bit basic, but it works and sounds great.

I now have a reverse camera, and that works fine.

I will be happy if it just keeps working!! as I cant afford another one just yet.
