So, my device has never worked well and now I see the same model with a newer firmware. Is there anyway I can send my current unit in to get the new firmware applied? I feel the current version I have 5 is very limiting.

the unit with new firmware you saw in fact has different CPU and other hardware with your current unit.
So you are unable to update it.

If I were to purchase the new unit, will the leads and ports behind the unit be using the same standard. Or will I need to rewire my setup.

they are using the same standard.You can install the new unit as the old one.

Hi,

I was able to get the unit working and installed it on another car. I have the firmware but right now the system is showing upon boot "System UI has stopped working" upon booting. If I was to put the firmware in the GPS slot, what steps do I take to have it flash the firmware since I can't access the menu.
