Anyone know how I can control Spotify without being in the app?

I have Spotify playing in the background and Waze in Immersive Mode or Full screen running in the foreground by using "GMD Full Screen Immersive Mode"

I want to go to the next track but the remote control doesn't work. The steering wheel controls don't work. I have tried 2 different Bluetooth Media Remote Controls but they both wouldn't pair.

I want to skip to next song in Spotify without being in the app or having to mess about with the screen while I'm using Waze navigation.

Hi, this unit can only support the control the default music with the remote buttons, if you want to use the buttons to get into the Spotify app.
You can enter the Settings-->GPS--GPS application to choose the Spotify app, then when you press the Navi button, you can enter it.
And currently our unit does not support to work with the bluetooth media remote control.

Hi,
I had that problem as well and I fixed it using this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53678587 . It's brilliant I would say.
It starts automatically the Spotify but it's unable play automatically (sometimes it does). You can configure any button (key stroke) from your unit to do something with Spotify like : Pause/Play/ Next/Previous.
