Google maps slow on the new android 7.1 headunit

I am running into following issues
- any app download take very long time
- I installed speedtest and confirmed that the download speed is approx 25MB so it is not a wifi issue, the unit is getting good wifi reception and good download speed
- google map takes very long at time over an hour
- I have already updated the google map and also reset the unit couple of times but the problem persists

It there a new firmaware version that I need to update to resolve issue
