Steering wheel control sometines don't work

I have a Pumpkin model 7", Android 7.1 - # CN01-02306B-08A?
My Amazon order# 111-3569796-1266623

I finally installed it 3 days ago and everything seems to be working. I love the unit, it's a big step up from the original stereo.
I have seen one flaky issue.
I have setup the steering wheel control and it works fine for a while and stops working. If I go to the setting menu when it stops working, I can see all the functions are enabled and saved but it does not change volume if I press the buttons. I have to reset the menu and add buttons again and it starts working again.
This is not always a problem but I have seen it few times already.
Do I need a new firmware or there’s something I’m missing?

could you tell me your car model? Did you externally add any steering wheel adapeter?

It's a 2007 Toyota Sienna. No I did not add any interface or adapter. I used a harness. When I program the keys it work for a day or so and stops. If I look at the steering wheel menu in pumpkin the option are still saved but key press gives no response.
