Developer Mode to enable 'Allow Mock Locations'

Postby MrChops » Thu Jul 07, 2016 8:04 pm

I use my 6.95" Pumpkin 2Din head unit with a GPS Speedometer app that I wrote and it works fine with the supplied GPS antenna.

What I want to do is what I do on my Android phone; connect a Bluetooth high accuracy dedicated GPS receiver (specifically a Garmin GLO) so the app updates its location in real time not once/second. To use this receiver I need to allow mock locations.

I see Developer Mode is disabled, or am I doing something wrong? Tapping the Build version multiple times does nothing.

Thanks.

Hi, could you pleas tell us your order number or product SKU?
This information is very important for us to provide you the accurate and good solution.
As we known, the aftermarket radio have android system, but it can hardly perform completely like the android phone.
Just like the smartphone already have android 6 or 7 system, but most of the aftermarket radio only have the android 5.1 system.
So we have to tell you that the unit does not support to connect a bluetooth high accuracy dedicated receiver.
If you want to update the maps, when we have the new one, we can send it to you, you just need to download and use it.
Regards

Hi, it's a KD-C0224 running Android 4.4.

I'm not sure why it can't perform like an Android phone? Your version of Android is customised to add additional settings and connections so unless it's to stop the enthusiasts from changing the installed features (and perhaps unlocking hidden or disabled ones?) I can't see why Developer options are disabled.

Why would 'Allow mock locations' be disabled? Why would you not allow other (faster, more accurate) GPS devices to be used with the device? It's got nothing to do with maps, I don't want to use iGo after using a dedicated TomTom device...it's a second class citizen. I just want my GPS data to update 10 times/second instead of one.

So, another disappointment with this unit then. :(

But thanks for replying to my question.

Hi, our android unit have many functions as the android smartphone, but some functions of our android unit have some limit or something need to be improved, hope your understanding.
And the settings are the factory default design, and it's not possible to add additional settings or connections at buyer side, cause it maybe result in some problem and damage on the unit.
If you don't want to use the preinstalled GPS navigation, you can use other online maps, such as Google and waze.
Or you can try to download some offline maps to use.
