Dear Pumpkin-Community,
two days ago, I installed my 11-RQ1221E (Android 5.1) and everything looked fine. But when listening to music, I have two serious issues:
- I can hear my engine highfrequently through the speakers (more revs -> higher beeping)
- my subwoofer isn't working anymore.
I would like to set a focus on the second problem. To connect the speakers, I need the Cinch-Cables (FL,FR,RL,RR), but the device seems to crossfade the sound to the subwoofer-output, that can't be connected to any cable, because Audi works with Bose, that uses an internal crossfader with his own frequency.
How can I disable the crossfade by the device itself? There must be a way to configure the DSP. I would do a telnet/ssh, if this would be possible, but I need to know, in what ini/cfg I need to change it.
Please don't answer with some <Equilizer-App>, because this also won't change the deviceconfiguration itself.
Regards,
Sebastian
Audi A3 8P with Bose needs 4.0 instead of 4.1
Re: Audi A3 8P with Bose needs 4.0 instead of 4.1
Hi, could you please tell us your order number or buyer ID?
This information is very important for us to provide you the accurate and good solution.
For the engine noise, could you please take a video and upload it to youtube, then send the link to us?
We will help you check it.
For the subwoofer not working, please refer to the below forum to check.

Re: Audi A3 8P with Bose needs 4.0 instead of 4.1
Of course. My ordernumber is: 500000854
I'll check the link, but the rearspeakers worked I think - I'll check it again, but the worst nightmare is the subwoofer that isn't working. I urgently need to disable the subwoofer-output(/lowpassfilter) and to the full range sound to all 4 channels (otherwise, my BOSE-Amp won't lowpass to the subwoofer).
For the high-freq. noise, I think, I found a reason: the Baseunit needs to be grounded. If also the grounding won't work, there are also filters available, that will be connected between the cinch-connectors.
I already felt in love with this pumpkin-radio, but the sound got worse (have you ever heard electrical music, where everything below 100Hz has been cutted away?). :-/
Regards and thank you for support.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply.
About the subwoofer not working, the subwoofer should be connected to your Bose sound system, and our unit can support to work with your car rear speaker, there may some special relation between the rear speakers and the subwoofer.
Could you please send us the wiring diagram of your original radio?
We need this information to check and try to give you solution.

Re: Audi A3 8P with Bose needs 4.0 instead of 4.1
Sorry, but the Bose Soundsystem doesn't have a SUB/SWR-Input! Only the 4 Cinches: Front-Left, Front-Right, Rear-Left and Rear-Right.
There is no option to connect the SUB-out to the Bose-System! Please tell me, how to disable the subwoofer-output to gain the full HiFi-Range to the Cinch-Connectors. Currently, the Pumpkin splits the frequencies to low and high and the low frequs are getting to the sub-out, that is wrong.
I also checked the Link: , but that is a complete other system/plug (Audi A4?). It looks like the ISO-Connectors, but I have QUADLOCK on my Audi A3.
On this picture, you can see the previous Pioneer Unit, where the subwoofer-output has been disabled:
Here, you can see the Cinch-connection between my Pumpkin-Amp and the Quadlock-Connector:
And this is a direct Image to the connector:
And at last, the Pumpkin-Connector:

Re: Audi A3 8P with Bose needs 4.0 instead of 4.1
I just tested the rear-speaker, they are working fine.
Re: Audi A3 8P with Bose needs 4.0 instead of 4.1
Please also check the following Quadlock-Pinout-description:
The A3 8P (2003-2011) has the right (40-pin)-connector and for the speaker, you'll need to take a view onto Tables B and C.
The description for "subwoofer" is completely missing, because you can't connect to it directly.

Sebastian

Re: Audi A3 8P with Bose needs 4.0 instead of 4.1
Hi,
Sorry for my poor understanding.
After discussing your issue with our technician, he said that the subwoofer output RCA cable is used for connecting the external subwoofer device. but cause your car bose soundsystem does not have the SUB/SWR input, so you don't need to use the subwoofer output from our RCA cable, just like your previous Pioneer unit disable the subwoofer output, hope your understanding.
Please notice, you need to follow the below attached picture to disconnect the red little connectors. They have special use on other place for the factory. If you connect them, the unit will drain your car battery.
Regards

Re: Audi A3 8P with Bose needs 4.0 instead of 4.1
Hi Jammy,
thank you for this information, I will disconnect the red cable.
But please tell me, how to disable the Subwoofer-Output. Currently, now low frequencies are getting through the 4 Cinch-Cables, because the unit still splits them.
EDIT: One idea to disable it, is to lower the crossover-frequency to 0 Hz. I only need a ability to change the crossover-frequency.
This is a big disadvantage of the Pumpkin-System. On the most radios with a connection to an external subwoofer, you can adjust the crossofer-freq. like 50Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz - depending of your mid/high-speakers. Like the common 5.1-soundsystems for your homecinemasystems. If you have big speakers (with a bass-unit), you can lower the subwoofer to 50Hz. If you have this tweeting-speakers (small!), you need to increase it ti 80 or 100Hz, because they can't play the lower frequencies.
EDIT2: A short google-search linked me to this Thread: . Please tell me, that this won't also counts for mine.

Sebastian

Re: Audi A3 8P with Bose needs 4.0 instead of 4.1
Hi, you can just leave alone the subwoofer output cable from our unit to disable it. And our unit does not have the function to lower or change the crossover frequency, sorry about this.
If you want to connect a external subwoofer, you can connect our subwoofer output cable to the external subwoofer, and you may get the low crossover frequency only when the unit play the CD or music which includes the low crossover frequency.
