The problem is that i cant seem to find a way to get the unit to start on key ignition. Its always on, no mather what i change the wiring. I tried cuting the rod wire, changing the red to yelow, combining them, and nothing worked. The unit was still on at al time. Any sugestions?

Hi,
please first tell me your order number in amazon or buyer id in ebay,Pumpkin or AliExpress so that we can confirm more information about your unit and provide you positive solutions.
Did the unit start when the key on the acc position ?
If not,please
1.check whether the yellow wire get 12V power from the car battery
2.check the fuse on the power connector is normal or not.
Any query ,you can contact the customer service where you bought the unit or directly write post to support@autopumpkin.com

Re: Wiring problem - startup key ignition
My order number: #203-8242630-4928312
No the unit was already on. It is constantly on. I checked with my multi meter which cables has ignition switch (ACC) and found out that there is none. I read somewhere that VW removed the ignition live switch on their can bus systems, but i am not sure. Nonetheless i have tried everything from switching wires (red, yellow) disconnecting the yellow wire, connecting them together and nothing worked. The unit was always on. Even when i turn the unit off by myself it just goes into standby. It drain the battery.
Fr the second part i do not really know what you mean by fuse on the power circuit? you mean in the dash, the fuse for the radio? It already has power so i dont really know what does this have to do with the ignition key switch. Please explain what you meant by that?
Thank you.

Hi,
i think i might misunderstood you before,so please ignore the second part in the last post.
Do you mean that the unit always start on even though you plug out the car key or disconnect the yellow wire ?Could you show me an video?
It seems that your car has a can bus system ,isn't it.
In addition, i don't find your order, please check the number again.

Re: Wiring problem - startup key ignition
Hi I have somewhat of the same problem. Bought this unit long time ago (order 100000845). This year it started to drain the battery. It took me a while to realise it was the headunit which causes the problem. It drained the battery overnight in my VW Passat variant 2006. So i tested it by taking it out and put the standard vw headunit in. With the original headunit there is never this problem. So put the pumpkin unit back in again en placed an on/off switch on the yellow cable. The unit goes to sleep or off with the switch, but still it drains the battery. I have a CANBUS so maybe it is the same problem as mentioned in the OP's post
