Restrict Hotspot Connection - Pumpkin AE0273B - Android 8.0 - 4GB+ROM:32GB

Postby ptang@psyko.com.au » Tue Sep 11, 2018 9:36 pm

With so many applications updating and ability to save content for offline use.

- Google Play Music
- YouTube Music
- Plex offline sync
- Google Updates

All those apps would sync content while connected to a wireless connection and would cause large amounts of data when connected to my phones hotspot.

On my Samsung phone there is a way to restrict any wifi network and treats it as a 3G - 4G connection which prevents. This menu item is not on the head unit.

Settings -> Connections -> Data Usage -> Restrict Networks -> (Select WiFi network to restrict)

Any applications available to get around this?

Also the whole idea of network restriction is to only apply on specific hotspot networks. When connected to a home wifi no restriction should apply

@ptang@psyko.com.au,
if you use a mobile phone, tethering to your radio, you are able to restrict the usage directly in the tethering settings.
That does not influence any other connections as the wifi connection to your phone and with it the data consuming on your mobile.
