Authentication problem connecting to a IPhone 6s and 8 hotspot on android 8.0 AE0373B-01A

I can not establish a connection to my IPhone 8 & 6s hotspot.

What I did:
Step 1: Enable Hotspot on IPhone
Step 2: Select the wifi hotspot on the android radio
Step 3: It tries to receive an IP address... (waiting...)
Step 4: The android radio states that it had an authentication error
Step 5: The android radio retries to connect again automatically with the same result
Step 6: It tries again to connect and fails this time with the message that it has an Authentication problem.

I don‘t get more information from the system...

What I tried so far without any success:
1. Changing the password of the hotspot.
2. No password for the hotspot at all. - not an option, but I just tried it to see if this causes the problem
3. Connecting the phone via usb and enabling teathering usb (did not work as well)
4. Connecting USB WIFI dongle - nothing happened, maybee the stick does not work with android

I do have an Android phone where i can connect to it’s hotspot without any problems. The issue here is, that this is the phone of my company and I am not supposed to use it for private purposes.

Therefore I would need an solution for this issue quite soon, because I want to go on a longer trip the next weeks where an internet connection of the radio would be quite handy.


PS: Is there any newer firmware for the device? Where can i find the releases?

please download the zip files to the root content of one sd card and insert it into the GPS slot,then enter settings - system - system update.

Hi,

The firmware update went fine without any issues.
Unfortunately it didn‘t fix the problem. I still can‘t connect to the hotspot of my IPhone.
The only difference to the last firmware is, that it now tries to receive an IP address and aborts without any information message.

Could you mind showing me an video about your issue ? I suggest you can show the system version of your phone and the car stereo ,and show how you connect . If we get the problem here ,it is helpful to solve this issue.

Hello, i have same problem i have iPhone XS Max with iOS12 and i have authentication issue. I can't connect with iPhone hot spot. I'm connecting with no problem with android phones.

hi,sorry for the late reply due to the Chinese National Day holiday.
In fact, we tested Iphone 6s ,Iphone 6p , 8 and Iphone X , configured with IOS11.4 or IOS12, and find the hot spot works normally. And Iphone XS Max, sorry that we still don't get it to test.So any query about this issue, we hope you can show us an video so that we might be able to find the cause.
