Canbus / Power loom setup

Postby Ro8BiE » Wed Jul 20, 2016 1:00 pm

Apologies is this has been asked before but after a search I couldn't find anything.

I have a Pumpkin Android 5.1 Lollipop Double Din Car Stereo 7 inch in a VW Golf Mk5

I am using the canbus wiring loom that seems to be working well with the ignition however.

1) The unit will not switch on without the key
2) The Cig Lighter seems to have stopped working

the canbus loom looks like it is only taking one power line in which I guess is the problem.

Any thoughts on how to get round this?

Thanks

Hi, could you please first tell us your order number and product SKU?
Our unit turns on/off when you switch on/off the ignition key.
If you feel our unit work with problem, please tell us more details, the unit is designed to work as your original one.

Hi Jammy,

I ordered the unit the Amazon, Ordered on 12 July 2016 Order # 205-2218526-5677142 I am not sure what you are referring to by SKU.

I do not think there is a problem with the unit itself just the set up of the Canbus Loom.

The unit works properly with the key, however the original unit could switch on without the key and this doesn't. Also as I mentioned the cig lighter has also stopped working and I think it is connected.

Do you have a wiring digram for the canbus loom for a golf MK5?

Hi, the canbus loom is factory default design and it can no be changed.
As we know, most of the aftermarket radios work with the ignition signal controlled by the keys, some need to be decodered by the canbus box, just like our unit RQ0362 and your car golf MK5. If your car has the special mode which the original radio can work without the key, sorry that our unit does not support this. Hope your understanding.

There was very little information given for information a standard installation.

From memory:

There are two live lines form the golf loom. The normal unit loom had red and yellow off these live lines but did not work with the key.

The canbus one only used one line in but works off the key.

My thoughts are that the line not connected is the yellow direct battery line and its breaking the circuit for the cigar lighter.

Hi, cause it's the special power cable for VW, and we don't have the wiring diagram for the canbus loom.
If you still want to switch on the unit without key, you can try to use the power cable without canbus to check.
But we have to tell you, this will drain your car battery.

turning the unit on without the key is not the end of the world.

The cigar lighter not working, is an issue, especially as I am using personal hotspot.

has anyone got any pictures of the correct set up, because it may be just that I am missing something.

Hi, sorry for the late reply due to the weekend.
About the "cigar lighter not working", it does not matter with our unit, could you please go to your local auto shop to check?
Or if you think it's our unit problem, would you mind take a video, upload it to youtube, then send the link to us?
We will help you check.
Regards
