How to operate the head unit with Android Auto

Hi together,

I recently bought a Pumpkin android radio for a Volkswagen (Android 8.0). My intend is to use it in combination with my mobile and android auto via Bluetooth. Hence, I also bought the autoplay unit.

Well, if I connect my mobile via the USB cable, I'm asked to install Car life, an app which is only available in Chinese language. Android auto does not show up on the radio screen.

I guess I'm doing something terribly wrong, but I don't understand how to see the android auto app on the radio.

Does anyone know how to do this the right way?

sorry that there is any defect with that app you were using. Here is the latest version of that app .You can delete the old one and install this.

I tested the app you provided and it worked, well, a bit (sometimes I see the screen of the mobile and sometimes the screen remains black). But after installing the update of Autoplay via the settings dialogue, it seems to work.
I also saw, that there's a new version of the firmware of the box, but when I try to install it, I see a download bar which does runs forever without installing anything. Any ideas, what that means?

The firmware we gave you is the newest...so forget about that box.
