I Installed this radio into my 2012 VW Golf R. The only modification at install, I cut the pink wire and shorted it to by-pass parking brake signal.
Software, I tried the Car Launcher AGAMA, and didn't like that it dominates the display without allowing multiple screens etc, and have decided to stay with the stock launcher. I've also added some apps (waze, slacker, google play music, OBDeleven).
When I first started playing with settings, I can swear there was an option to control different media types volumes. Now, no matter where I look, all I see is one universal volume control. My problem is that radio (fm stations) is very loud when I swap from any other audio (A2DP, google play, waze, slacker.. basically everything else). I then found two places for "volume" level, that go from 0 to -15dB. It seems they lower the volume for everything, but does not balance the radio (I will guess also the music player, still trying to get stuff on a card..) with the other APPs' volumes. How can I fix this?
Next, my car has a separate compass built into the CAN-BUS. I like this one because it is always accurate. I want to keep it active, but it seems the radio forces a command every few seconds to say N. So, everyone few seconds, the directions shows N (no matter what it was), then turns off, then comes back with real direction. Is there a way to disable the radio trying to send compass heading? Can it read the car compass instead? The compass in every android device I have ever owned has NEVER worked right (even Samsung flagship phones like Galaxy S8 sucks), and I think maps could be more accurate if it reads the car compass instead.
Side questions:
What is the correct CAN type? There are many for VW...
What is the Knob setting? (I want to use right side knob to browse radio station, not skip to next preset.. will this control that?)
Besides this, I love this radio upgrade. I am coming from RCD330g (previous RNS-510, and RCD-510).

Hi,
1.for first issue, you can enter settings - car settings - factory settings (3368)- voice page.
2.We configures a GPS antenna with our unit and the unit doesn't support your original GPS device .Hope your kind understandings.
3. the knob function is controlled by the basic program and you are unable to remap it . Hope your kind understandings.

Re: ND0376B - Volume Settings and Compass
1. I'll look there, couldn't remember how I saw those settings. Do you by chance know which to modify? I did confirm that anything that is on the unit (SD card music, radio) is loud, all the apps' volumes are low (slacker, A2DP i found was phone volume setting, youtube, etc.)
2. Is there a way to disable the compass feature? It is consistently wrong (shows north, no matter what). I'd rather disable the compass in the car completely, than have it tell me N all the time.
3. In one of the settings pages, there are many options for the knob, is that modifiable or was it preset that way to function with my specific car?
Thank you for a timely response! I'm still really liking this radio overall, and the support seems great! Thank you for that!

Hi,
1.in fact ,the default volume rate is a quite good choice .You can try to improve the app volume in the app itself .
2.I don't know how to disable it . This is your original car function.Maybe you can search the professional for help.
3.The knob function is universal .
Regards

Re: ND0376B - Volume Settings and Compass
Hi,
I still have not tried to fix the volume issue, but have discovered a new problem. Roughly 5 minutes into most drives, the wifi turns itself off on the radio. I have configured tethering with my phone, and verify that it connects before I start my drive. About 5 minutes into a drive, Waze will show "searching network", and when I look, wifi was turned off. Is there something in the software that turns off the wifi by default?

Re: ND0376B - Volume Settings and Compass
I was able to improve upon the volume balancing by lower system slightly, and radio by a bit more. Thank you for the assistance regarding that!
I was also able to disable the cars native gps/antenna an no longer have compass display. Kind of a bummer, but less distracting than it bouncing around.
Only remaining concern then is how it turns off WiFi after a few minutes.

Hi,
1.could you tell me how you disable the car native gps/antenna ? Could you mind show me some pictures ?
2.About the wifi issue, you can first try to tether with another phone . Or you can flash this firmware.https://mega.nz/#!bfoAxSCb!tRVYoJ7PLpk6 ... YUgvDCZHkU
Please download the files(need not unzip) to the root content of one sd card or USB stick ,next insert the card into the GPS slot ,then enter settings - extra settings - system update.

Re: ND0376B - Volume Settings and Compass
1. This is for my 2012 VW Golf. I used an app OBDeleven Pro (VCDS is another VW PC software that will work), and I removed the GPS/compass module from the CAN Gateway list, and unplugged the module so I do not show error for missing gateway.
2. I only use 1 phone, but I will try the firmware. Will the firmware update undo anything else in the radio (like apps, widgets, settings changes?)
