USB debugging code

Hi I am unable to transfer files from SD card, when I try I get parsing error.i have been told that I need to switch on USB debugging, so I go to developer options and click on USB debugging , when try to do this I am presented with a screen and keyboard that indicates a code is required, so can you please tell me the code? Thanks.

Thanks jammy, finally figured out how to copy files.
I think my problem is corrupted files on SD card.
