Bluetooth internet sharing

Postby padd007 » Mon Aug 08, 2016 8:30 am

Hi Hi have the new pumpkin 7" 1024*600 Head unit running android 5.1.1, I love this thing but I am trying to get it to use my phones internet over bluetooth and am having problems(WiFi hotspots drain too much battery and I have to remember to enable/disable it).
My phone is a Nexus 6p with stock firmware and I am using the Bluetooth tethering. The head unit seems to have very limited bluetooth functions, I cannot view any services offered by bluetooth devices. Also 3rd party apps cant seem to use bluetooth, it just hangs when trying to disable/enable bluetooth. Has anyone else tried this and had any luck??

Regards

Hi,
Normally our unit can support to make a call and listen music via bluetooth when connecting to the smartphone.
And our unit can also support OBD2 bluetooth connection.
Sorry that it does not support to work with Bluetooth tethering and third party apps via bluetooh.
Regards

I don't suppose there is some kind of hack to get around this, I know Android 5.1.1 supports it. WiFi hotspots are very battery consuming and inconvenient. Bluetooth seems like the best way to share my phones internet connection.

Hi,
The Bluetooth tethering do not only have relation with the android system version, it also does matter with the Bluetooth module built in the mainboard. Hope your understanding.

I can appreciate that but there is clearly some issues with bluetooth, is there no way I get get 3rd party apps to manage bluetooth?
Also my unit reboots whenever I turn the ignition on, it seems this problem is related to an OBD service that makes the system reboot however I am unsure if it is related to bluetooth (I cannot turn bluetooth off either). Any solutions would be appreciated.

Hi,
Sorry that currently we don't have the way to make the third party apps to manage bluetooth.
About the reboot issue caused by th OBD connection via bluetooth, you can install the update firmware to solve it.
Here is the link for you.

I was just wondering about the bluetooth issue, would a bluetooth dongle work with this unit, if it does could I expect better functionality?

Since applying the update the buttons no longer light up when I turn my lights on. They used to before, is there a solution to this??
