Feature suggestion: More options under power off after ACC off setting

Postby mattcaron » Wed Aug 17, 2016 6:02 pm

Currently, the selection goes to 2 hours. I would like to see 3 more options added:

8 hours (a normal workday)
12 hours (a long workday)
24 hours (overnight)

The problem I face is that, in a normal day, I leave my house at 07:30 to go to work for 08:00. I leave work at 17:00, and am home by 17:30. Therefore, it's always past the ACC off timeout, and the radio always takes the full 20-30s to boot - which is bothersome when I want to use the reversing camera to reverse out of my garage or parking slot.

Thank you for considering the addition of this feature.

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion.
Cause the options under power off after ACC off settings have relation with the car battery capacity.
We will try to make more options available on our unit in the future.

Yeah, I know that battery capacity figures in here, but it looks like, on ACC off, you disable WiFi and Bluetooth and kill all applications, to minimize power. I would expect the power draw to be quite small, and, since I drive my car for about 1.5 hours each day, the battery should remain well charged. If I find that I have an issue with battery life when I turn the full off to 24 hours, I will reduce the number. :-)

If you can provide current draw numbers for when the unit is suspended, I could even do the calculations to determine how long it can stay suspended before I wouldn't be able to start my car.

That is helpful information, thank you.

Also, when I made the suggestion, I did not realize that the reversing camera comes on almost immediately. For example, if I start the car, I get the "lollipop navigation" screen, which is then replaced by the normal booting screen (in my case, I have it set to the VW logo). Once the VW logo appears, if I put the car in reverse, the reversing camera shows. So, I would say that the option, while nice to have, is not critical, because the reversing camera was the most important thing for me.

In fact, given that the reversing camera works as it does, I will probably change the full power off to be a shorter time, to save the battery.
