B+ and ACC

Postby dnapekko » Wed Apr 15, 2020 7:51 am

Hello,
I am in the progress to install model VA0201B-B01 in my Alfa Romeo Brera to replace original Satnav by Magneti Marelli.
I assume, that B+ should have permanent power, and ACC is powered only when the key is in the slot.
Isn't there a possibility to have power on without the key in ignition lock (the key connects ACC when installed din the slot)?
I did a test connection, and all worked, but after removed the key and put it back to the slot the head unit wakes up very slowly.
Can this model be connected to car's CAN bus? There were no terminals in the adapter cable to original head unit's CAN pins

Hmm, not much answers here. I am considering to install an adjustable time delay relay in ACC line to keep the unit half alive during day.
But the question about CAN is still unanswered, I think that the head unit CAN cannot talk with car's CAN, and I shall forget that

Slow Start of Head Unit

Postby dnapekko » Wed Apr 29, 2020 9:21 am

I connected the unit as per instructed. Problem is, that when I stop the car and/or remove the key, ACC power turns off and turns off the head unit too.
Next start for the Head Unit is very slow, about 40 seconds, and the head unit also forgets time and date. Is this how you have designed the device ? There is constant 12 V in correct wire.

Hello dnapekko,

Sorry for the delay.
Please check whether the thick yellow wire inside the power cord of the car is connected to the car permanently 12V.

Thank you
Jammy

Yep, that thick yellow wire is in permanent 12 V. ACC wire is without power when I turn off the engine, and next time the Head unit starts usual 40 seconds. What is the power consumption, if ACC is connected to 12 V, and head unit is turned off? I am already have an adjustable time delay relay to have ACC alive some hours.

Hello,

Does the question still exist after you use the adjustable time delay relay?
What's your car year?

Thank you
Jammy

Hi
I have been busy, going to install relay next weekend, I suppose that everything will be ok then. Interesting thing is, that when looked at the settings, I found a setting, which asks how long the unit will stay on after ACC is cut off. Unfortunately that setting does not affect in anything.
