I installed the Pumpkin 7" head unit with Android 5.1 for a VW Passat at the weekend and all worked well. The unit was purchased through Amazon UK on 11 September 2016 (ORDER # 026-1030338-8421936) together with a Pumpkin DAB unit. Yesterday I set about fitting the DAB unit. All went well initially as I tested the unit at every stage for reception and functionality with the App on the headunit. Unfortunately the unit stopped working at the completion stage with the link button on the app unresponsive. I checked the output (5V was present at the headunit and at the DAB unit) and several reboots to no effect. I also reinstalled the app and checked the ariel connectivity, but this too was unsuccessful . Bizarrely, after nearly giving up the app started to work and all seemed normal. However, this morning on my trip to work the DAB was again not responding and it was back to normal FM.
This is clearly unacceptable and I think points to a defective DAB unit. So unless you can think of a simple and fixable resolution (you will see that I have tried the obvious checks) it would seem that a new DAB unit is required. This in itself is inconvenient given the time I spent ensuring the ariel is well placed and the wiring secured behind trim panels.
I look forward to your response.
PS. The radio app works fine, but is there anyway to stop the unit scanning away from presets when in TA mode?
DAB malfunction
Re: DAB malfunction
Hi,
Sorry for the trouble caused.
About the DAB app issue, I'm not sure if it's the DAB box problem or the unit problem.
Cause you had found all the possible solution on our forum, I could not provide you more useful solution.
Generally, if you want the DAB function work as it suppose, you can contact the amazon to get a new replacement, including the unit and DAB box.
But if you don't mind, we hope you can return the whole unit and the DAB box back to HK, we will cover the postage you pay.
About the radio app issue, you can turn off the AF or enter the factory settings(password 126)--others to switch off the RDS option, then the radio station will not scan itself.
Regards
