Radio and more

Postby Jensen » Mon Aug 08, 2016 2:13 pm

I have just installed a Pumpkin 5.1.1 for a S-Max whit DAB.

It's a nice radio, fits very well in the car and give a lot of options, but...

The Fm radio does recieve a lot of stations, more than the stock radio, but the quality are not so good, i can't drive long before i loose the station.

The DAB is even worse, there are a lot of "holes" in the programs, it ain't use full at all.

When i go with the navigation and i close it down it tells me that there is no GPS signal after a few seconds.

The range of the wifi is very poor.

Can i do some thing to solve the about mentioned "lacks".

Lars

Hi, could you please tell us your order number?
Regarding your issues, would you mind take a video to help us get more details?
You can reset the unit and do a factory settings restore to check.

Hi Jammy

There is no video to make, you can only hear that it change station, or there is dropout.

My order number is: 100001324

Now i have had more time to drive with the radio it seems that the volume on the FM radio is going up and down on the same station.

The GPS issue, could it be, that if i start a app "over the Igo app", then the GPS drop out for the Igo, because it seems that if i have my radar warning app running the Igo tells me that there are no connection ( voice from Igo ).

I habe all ready tried a reset, that didn't help.

I have now made a sd card whit the flash file.

When i put the card in the gps slot, nothing happens, then i find the update menu, and i can see the .img file, click start.

Then the HU power down and starts up again whit the black and blue Lollipop screen, now the HU shows the Lollipop for several hours, nothing happens, the only way to get some respond is to push the rst, then it powers up as normal.

I have 2 identical sd cards, the other has a new version of the Igo map and there are no problem to read it, so thats not the problem.

Any good ideas to solve it.

Hi, sorry for the late reply due to the weekend.
Did you mean that the unit could not finish the firmware installation?
Please check if you put the update.img file into the root inventory of the SD card.
We have sent the same img file to our client and they did the firmware installation without problem.
There must some details left out or ignored.
You can redownload and reinstall the update.img to check, sorry for the inconvenience brought to you.

Hi Jammy

I have now been ´"living" with the radio for nearly 2 months.

I have managed to run the update but still have some troubles.

When i start up the radio i first see the brand logo then the desktop and then again the brand logo, then after apx a minute i get the desktop again and the radio works. It's when i start form "cold" or if i just have the ignition of for a few seconds, i have set the timer to 2 hours.

The car is a S-max from 2009, what canbus protocol should i chose, focus, Mondeo or.... ?

It's still that the IGO nav app tells me that there is no gps signal ( voice ) when i run another program using gps, it's not all the time.

The radio is still poor but better, i guess.

What can i do ?

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply due to the National Day.
About the cold boot time, normally our unit just need to take 25-30 seconds to enter the main menu.
If you install many apps, the cold boot time may take a little long but it does not affect the radio using.
About the canbus protocol, it already has set to the right option, and please don't change it.
About the nav app, you need to check if you set the voice guide correctly and if the radio could receive the normal satellites.
You can also use other nav apps, such as sygic, here maps, waze and google maps.

Hi,
For the GPS problem, first check if the radio could receive the normal satellites in GPS info app. Then, maybe the compatibility between the Navi app and map app.You can use the latest IGO map or change anther map.
Here is the latest firmware for your unit .
