Sorry for the late reply.
You may find that the android 5.1 firmware is not available for android 4.4 unit.
Though the CPU/Ram. Same screen of the units are same, they still have the difference and limitation inside.

I had explained that the android 5.1 firmware was not available on your unit RQ0248, even if they seems like the same one.
I also know you may don't trust me, so I provide you the android 5.1 firmware, and you can try to install it.

The MTCB-KLD6-V2.85 is the radio MCU version and it does not have relation with the android version.

In fact in my case it did have a relation .Kld6 2.85 wont work with that firmware above .... you will get a boot logo then a black screen ,well i did with mine .... although what is strange is when i first bought the head unit it had the mcu kld6 2.85 on 5.1 but when it messed up i recived this same file as above but wouldnt work with the mcu (i did try 4.4 and that worked). i had to update the mcu to 2.91 or 2.97 for it to boot up and be usable. So of course the firmware that is on the link is not the actual original firmware that came with the unit. However is works the same with the mcu update .so if your unit has the same hardware as mine then i guess there no reason why it wont work if u update mcu to 2.91 or 2.97 with that firware link above ... however if the hardware is different it could brick the unit ... but will be interesting if it does work ...

Oh by the way mcu kld6 2.91 or 2.97 updates your unit as mtcc ,however things would of been much easier with the original factory firmware that worked with mcu kld6 2.85 mtcb than the firmware above.

If u want an interesting read ... il help as much as possible... ive had weeks of frustration with my head unit in the past. I was on custom firmware until i discovered this key to mcu and os combo 2 months researching trail and error and once bricked my unit ... but as the chip inside is just a simple reprogramable rockchip it was easy to get is sorted again with sd tool software ... all this could of been avoided with the correct original firmware that came with the radio which still works with mtcb 2.85 .... but i just get generic stuff on the link

I think if u wanted to update your unit the first step would be to update the mcu and firmware together according to the xda link the kylde factory and mtcb and mtcc mcu's are fully compatible on any kylde unit hence "kld6" in the mcu type name , i can confirm that my unit changed from a mtcb to a mtcc without bricking ... so the chances are the our units 248 ... 268 .. are the same mine probably rolled out the factory at a later date with a different firmware so im guessing that why the model number changed .. and the higher price tag ... i would.be slightly annoyed if the 248 unit updated to 5.1 i would feel ripped off but in the same time happy for the guys running 4.4 with a decent update

The warranty of the unit is one year, even if the time is beyond a year, you can still return it back to us, and we have responsibility to repair it.
Sorry for my improper words about "you insist", I had sent you the android 5.1 new firmware, and you can install it and check if it does some help.

I think u may get black screen with the update without an mcu update, that was my experience

I'd like a genuine update to be made for this head unit, I find it hard to believe that in this day an age, you would make a unit that can't at least upgrade to the next update! Otherwise a head unit swap should be in order.
