Rear camera broken?

Postby steamy24 » Sun Dec 11, 2016 11:02 pm

Hi,
I have a problem with the rear camera:
Every time I use the rear gaer the head unit shos me only a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. But the LEDs at the camera are on. The wires are connected correct as the head unit automaticlly switches the display (and the video wire is also connected to CAM IN). I have also tested using the Video in withthe rar camera while disconnecting the rear gear signal and manually selecting the Video in - same yellow triangele. Can you help me? My order number is 500001483.

Best wishes,
Andreas

Hi,
Sorry about this.
Could you please test the reverse camera with another display screen?
And the kind of your car would be appreciated.
I just worry the new camera could not solve this problem.
So if possible, would you mind take a video to help us check?
We will try to provide you best solution.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Regards

Hi,

my car is a nine years old Toyota Corolla Verso.
As I have already installed the whole thing I have to remove some covers for testing with an other display. I'll do that at the weekend.
By now I have only some photos I took yesterday.

But today I recognized another big problem: Making a phone call using the Bluetooth hands free connection from the head Unit no one can understand me. Transferring the call back to the mobile phone everything is alright. So the problem is not the carrier or the phone but the Bluetooth hands free connection or the external microphone....

Regards

Hi,
The reverse camera cable connection is without problem, you can unplug the yellow RCA cable and connect it to Video in RCA cable from the unit.
Please disconnect the reverse in wire, enter the AVin on the unit, check if there is a picture.
It's possible that the Cam in wire or the reverse camera is broken.

For the phone call issue, please first turn up the volume both your phone and the head unit.
And could you please tell us if the person can understand you when you use the external mic and the internal mic hole?
Sometime the phone call sound to the other person maybe interfered by surrounding noise.
We suggest you well close your windows and doors, and try to put the external mic near to your mouth straightly when you are at the driver position.
Regards

Hello,

tried out the following things for the camera issue:

Connected the rear camera to the video in and manually selecting the AV on the HU while disconnecting the signal wire for the reverse gear: same yellow-and-black exclamation mark (with a complete black screen without the markers).

As I own a ten years old computer monitor with Cinch-AV-in CVBS (Samsung SyncMaster 215TW, supporting PAL, NTSC, SECAM, PAL M, PAL N, NT43 and PAL60) I tested the rear camera with this monitor. While no AV cable was plugged in the monitors OnScreenDisplay correctly showed that no cable is connected.
While in the reverse gear and so the rear camera powered I connected the camera with this monitor. Now the monitors OSD changed to "No AV signal" - and never displayed an picture from the rear camera.

Because of this I really think the Y0801 rear camera is not working correctly.

Regards,
Andreas

Hi,

I just want to say Thank you for your help: The new camera arrived just two days later. Thank god the old camera itself was broken - so I can leave the long wire untouched. With the new one mounted it works perfectly!

A very big thank you for your help!
