Hello, folks. My first post here.
I liked my KD-C0224 so much that I have just bought a KD-C0245 for my other car. Everything works well except for one little glitch.
In the KD-C0224 the power button has a dual function: it mutes the sound on a short press and switches the unit completely off on the long press. This is very convenient when I receive a phone call while the music is playing.
However in the KD-C0245 the volume/power button switches the unit completely off on the short press and does not have the mute function at all.
Is there any way to remap the volume/power button so that it would have the dual mute/off function like the one in the KD-C0224?
KD-C0245 volume/power button does not mute
Re: KD-C0245 volume/power button does not mute
Hi there
The item C0245 is not the same designing on the front panel, so it is not support to do that, hope you can understand!
Regards!

Thank you for the reply.
Is there a newer firmware that I can flash over? I miss the mute function.

Also, the "Factory Settings" => "Other" => "Keymap option:" is currently set to "Option 1". There are 10 options total available.
Is there an option that can enable the mute function in the power/volume button? I am reluctant to just start experimenting by trial and error. Would not want to accidentally lock myself out with non-functioning keys.

Hi there
I do really understand your feeling, but I hope you can understand that is not just software designing, that is totally a different hardware using too on the front panel. I have even checked our latest item in stock, all working as you mentioned, short press it will shutting off. So basically I do not suggest you to change those datas in the factory setting in case any trouble caused as you mentioned. Hope you can understand!

Re: KD-C0245 volume/power button does not mute
Oh well...
Ironically the KD-C0224 has two mute buttons: a dedicated "MUTE" button (upper left) and the one combined with the POWER button (bottom left), whereas the KD-C0245 has none. It would be great to implement it in a future firmware revision. I really don't see why this can't be done. Its POWER/VOLUME button already has the press action built in. The only thing left is to add a few lines of code in the firmware to differentiate between the short press and the long one. Otherwise the KD-C0245 is a perfect unit for me. I like the real volume button that I can turn instead of the <+> and <-> rocker switch in the KD-C024. And the best part of the KD-C0245 is the absence of the CD drive.
Thanks for quickly responding to my questions. Pumpkin is my new favourite brand.
