Third Party Screen Lock App

Postby Fixedfixer » Wed Nov 09, 2016 3:00 pm

Hi, My first post here as a new user. Can anyone recommend a third party Screen lock App? I have my Google playstore and Google mail set up on the head unit and would like to lock the screen in case car stolen or I leave it at the garage for service. I see a number that can be downloaded but they seem to be for mobile phones rather than head units. I think my unit is KitKat. Thanks.

Hi,
Could you please first tell us your order number?
It's important for us to check the right product information and provide the positive solution
I had ever test a few third party screen lock app in Chinese on our android unit, some of them did not work well because the resolution does not fit.
You can search screen lock app on the Google play store and choose the app you like to install.
If you have problem after installing, please try to use another kind app.

Thanks Jammy, I have sent a PM with my order number. I'll take a look on Google Play store and also see if any other forum users post here with their experiences.

Ok, I've been having a think about this problem. My issue was that I'd associated my Gmail account to the head unit to facilitate the system back up and Google Play for app downloads. This also had the side effect of Gmail displaying all my email on screen to whoever was driving the car (my local garage when it is being serviced for example or worse a thief if the car was stolen!). Having all my email on display was not something I wanted and hence the idea of a screen lock like a mobile phone.

Having thought this through I have an easy solution. I have created a new Gmail account especially for the car. I don't use it for anything else so the inbox is empty. The head unit can use this account to store backups of data and settings as required. It has the benefit of not downloading email when it has access to wifi or via the 3G dongle that I bought from Pumpkin.

So a solution and I thought I would share this for other users on the forum here.
